Wednesday (St Remigius)

  • Usual AM routine; Morning Prayer in the cathedral.
  • Consulted with the Archdeacon in some detail over a couple of matters.
  • Prepared for the midday Mass.
  • Responded via email to a priest involved with one of our parishes in transition.
  • Spoke by phone with the senior warden of one of our parishes in transition.
  • Spoke by phone with the rector of one of our parishes over a couple of administrative and pastoral matters.
  • Left a phone message with a fellow Nashotah House trustee.
  • Spoke in person with the interim provost of the cathedral over some administrative/pastoral concerns.
  • Attended to a emergent personal matter (nothing wrong, just some household financial stuff) that ended up consuming chunks of time at various points during the day.
  • Took my homily for Proper 23 (St Thomas', Salem) from the fleshed-out notes to the rough draft stage.
  • Presided and preached the midday Mass, observing the lesser feast of St Remigius.
  • Lunch at home.
  • Posted an encouragement on the diocesan Facebook page for people in the diocese to click in to an internet "churchwide meeting" tomorrow night, staged by the Task Force for the Reimagining of the Episcopal Church (TREC).
  • Developed my still-in-process relationship with Apple's video software, iMovie. Tech learning curves are not my favorite thing, but I'm willing to embrace them for the sake of the catechetical endeavors I have in mind.
  • Composed and sent an email to the clergy in charge of congregations, with a couple of attachments relating to stewardship.
  • Spoke by phone with one of our rectors over an administrative issue.
  • Spoke by phone with the rector of one the two parishes outside the diocese that I take care of under DEPO (Delegated Episcopal Pastoral Oversight).
  • Devotions in the cathedral; Evening Prayer in the car on the way home.
  • Looked after some additional administrative and pastoral chores from home during the evening.
